Penetanguishene, Ont.
The design of the skylight and the way it integrated into the surrounding roofing system made it virtually impossible to waterproof as there was nowhere for the water to drain away from the skylight system.
All the lenses were different sizes as the skylight was built off square so templates were made for each piece of glass
New cedar shingle were installed to integrate the flashings.
The new system allowed for plenty of drainage space at the base and de-icing were installed on the new drainage basin which are automatically activated by cold temps.
We modified the skylight and portions of the adjacent roof to come up with a system that is now permanently waterproof with ample allowance for water to drain and also to handle ice build-up in the winter months.
New cedar shingle were installed to integrate the flashings.
